Current Team

The lab is passionate about giving research opportunities to undergraduates and high school students. Each year, we welcome them into our team of graduate students, academics, and community leaders.

Dr. Lydia Gibson

Dr. Gibson is a geographer and anthropologist, whose research cuts across natural and social sciences to understand the relationship between environment data and everyday lives  in remote areas of Latin America and the Caribbean.

Research Assistants

Sangeun Lee

Sangeun is a Master of Public Policy student at Georgetown University specializing in environmental policy, climate resilience, and technology governance.

Her professional background spans energy and climate policy research and analysis across think tanks in Germany and

South Korea. She is particularly interested in how climate infrastructure decisions shape community access and equity at the local level, and in bridging high-level policy analysis with on-the-ground community engagement.

Zoe Verma

Zoe is a rising senior at Georgetown University in the

Walsh School of Foreign Service. She is pursuing a major in Science, Technology, and International Affairs with a concentration in Energy & Environment, and she is also pursuing minors in Public Health and Spanish.

She is particularly interested in the connection between environmental science and public health,  understanding how climate change is gravely threatening health at the individual and community level. She has work experience in both the public and private sectors, mostly focusing on international relations, global development, and issues of energy security.

Madhura Shembekar

Madhura is a senior in the Walsh School of Foreign Service

at Georgetown University, majoring in Science, Technology,

and International Affairs (concentration in Energy/Environment) with a minor in Spanish.

She is interested in climate adaptation, environmental law,

and community-based advocacy. Her previous experience spans policy research, fieldwork, and volunteering, and she is interested in further exploring how community-based research shapes policy engagement and outcomes.

Interns

Cailyn Sullivan

Cailyn Sullivan is a second-year undergraduate student at Georgetown University, studying Anthropology and Economics. She is interested in exploring how culture shapes risk and decision making.
